“Our Places, Our Stories” Zine-Making Workshop: 80s Hip-Hop Edition!
ARCMTL x Expozine is thrilled to announce our third free zine-making workshop in the “Our Places, Our Stories” series, which delves into the music and nightlife history of Black Anglophone communities in Montreal! This next workshop will be taking place on April 10th, from 5:30-8:30 pm at the Black Community Resource Centre. With Montreal poet and performer Deanna Smith, we will play with the rhymes and rhythms of the 80s early hip hop scene. Participants will contribute their own verses to a collaborative zine, drawing inspiration from archival photographs, anecdotes, videos, and texts provided in the workshop.
Please note that this workshop will be in English and will prioritize participants of Afro-descendent heritage. If you do not identify as Afro-descendent but would like to come, shoot us an email at archives@arcmtl.org and we would be happy to waitlist you!
